Class of 2018 Senior Rep Model Call!

Every year we look for outgoing, vibrant, and fun individuals to be our J&S Photography senior rep ambassadors. Now that the current class of 2017 is graduating, we’re looking for 2018 seniors to come join in on the fun! Do you know a 2018 senior who;

  • Is outgoing and sociable, both in person and virtually
  • Enjoys modeling or being in front of the camera
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit
  • A knack for getting people together

They may just be the perfect fit to be a J&S 2018 Senior Rep Model. A J&S senior rep’s role is to communicate with fellow classmates on the senior portraiture experience with J&S. Senior reps receive a FREE senior portraiture session, (to be shot in June), images for social sharing, a discount on final product and potential to make a commission for every referral the senior rep makes. But most of all, we are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about bringing their personality and individual interests to model. Senior rep sessions last 2 hours and we encourage multiple outfits and personal interests to be included such as musical, instruments, dance shoes, motorcycles, etc. If this sounds like a good fit for you or someone you know, please contact us through the form below to book your senior session!

Say, “Cheese!”

As photographers, we realize the importance of a first impression and how a photo can speak volumes.

It’s rare today to meet someone who does not have some kind of social account, be it Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google +. Each one providing an opportunity to display a profile photo of yourself. Your photo is an element of your personal brand and one of the most important aspects of your profile account, yet is under-utilized and sometimes forgotten altogether. What is a profile picture, if not a headshot? Admittedly, we know the word “headshot” can conjure memories of stiff and uncomfortable poses in less then flattering attire with a drab background. We too have our own similar past experiences, likely due to childhood school pictures. The ones where you were given a plastic comb and the unnerving feeling of discomfort as the photographer yelled, “Next!”. Ugh.  As unappealing as the idea of a headshot may seem, a headshot plays a vital role in many professions such as corporate, the arts, and entrepreneurship.  The definition of a headshot is broad and the opportunity to be creative is much more limitless then one may think.

Traditional Headshot

Traditional headshots are typically for corporate or business purposes to demonstrate a person’s appearance. Purposes can include branding for a company website and public relations announcements. Traditional headshots usually consist of an individual photographed from mid torso up, in business attire, in studio. A more contemporary headshot can include corporate settings as a background.

Environmental/Lifestyle Headshots

An Environmental or Lifestyle headshot is a portrait of an individual in a familiar surrounding. For a yoga instructor this could be a portrait in a yoga studio or for a mechanic, a garage. Environmental headshots are a great way to show your personality, company sentiment, and uniqueness to your clientele and potential customers.

Model/Actor/Artist Headshots

Model and Actor headshots are very similar to the traditional type of headshot but can include the portrayal of a specific character for casting and branding purposes. The attire is typically more relaxed  and can be more elaborate given the personality of the individual or for the purpose of the picture taken.

All headshots have the same goal in the end, which is to portray an individual for marketing and/or promotional purposes. When it comes to branding, authentic is how you want to be portrayed to your audience and clients. That is what a photographer strives for; to capture your most comfortable, authentic self. A photographer is your biggest fan and cheerleader. Photographers are trained to watch for the best angels of the face, the most appealing smile, and complimentary body postures ensuring that you are captured at your best and brightest. When you work with a professional photographer the process should be painless. No plastic combs. No discomfort. Your headshot experience should be fun, professional, and most of all a positive unveiling of your true self.

A Cherished Home Wedding

It was an idyllic day for a wedding. In an idyllic location. The sun was golden wrapping it’s gentle arms around the loving home Mallory’s father built in Westminister, Ma when she was a small child. The air was filled with the sweet smell of summer and a gentle breeze swayed the childhood swing in the front yard of the family farm. It was Mallory and Dave’s wedding day. What a gorgeous day it would turn out to be!

The family horses were even present to witness the special occasion and join in on the some of the photo fun! Which made for some beautifully unique wedding day images.

A Cherished Home Wedding

What a beautiful idea for Mallory and Dave to choose such a heart filled location to say, “I do.” Charm and sweetness were abound!

Guests were ushered to hay bails draped in linen providing a comfortable place to view the bride as she was lovingly escorted by her father down the rustic driveway Mallory so fondly ran up and down as a child. Perhaps Mallory even played make believe about what her wedding day would be like in this very same spot? We were getting teary eyed at the thought!

The ceremony was sweet, touching, and full of emotion. It was a beautiful display of two families coming together to form one.

Mallory shared with us why she chose her childhood home for her wedding location.

“I wanted to be able to share my own memories with my soon to be husband and his family, as well as give everyone else a beautiful memory of a place special to me.”

It was special, Mallory! Although we were behind the camera snapping away, we felt like family too. We were honored to be able to capture the gift of sharing your fond memories and cherished home with loved ones and your now husband!
